Razor Dirt Quad VS Dirt Quad 500 Comparison Review 2020 Here at Wild Child Sports, we've done a lot of different comparison reviews of the best Razor Dirt Bikes and Razor ATVs. We get asked a lot about these two different Razor four wheeler models and wanted to show you the main similarities and differences between the Razor Dirt Quad VS Dirt Quad DLX 500. In short, the Razor Dirt Quad 500 is really just a bigger, more powerful four wheeler when compared to the original Razor Dirt Quad. Both of these Razor quads are great alternatives to the very popular Razor electric dirt bikes. These mini four wheelers will allow your rider to get familiar with throttling and cornering without having to worry about balancing on two wheels. Plus, these electric quads also have a lower top speed when compared to electric mini bikes making them a great choice for beginner riders. We're going to kick off this Razor quads comparison review with the main differences between the Dirt Quad and the Dirt Quad 500. Recommended Rider Age and Weight The Dirt Quad four wheeler is recommended for ages 8 and older with a maximum rider weight of 120 pounds. The Dirt Quad 500 wheeler is recommend for ages 14 and up with a maximum rider weight of 220 pounds. Dirt Quad is built primarily for younger kids whereas the Dirt Quad 500 can be used by both teenagers and adults. The Razor Dirt Quad is a great entry level ATV for a younger, lighter rider. While Razor does recommend that no one younger than 8 years old ride this quad, this is where you as the parent need to take a closer look at the individual ability and experience of your child. Since balancing isn't as much of a concern on a Razor four wheeler the same way it would be on a traditional dirt bike, it does give younger riders more confidence when first starting out. When looking at the Dirt Quad 500, it's built to cater to heavier riders and also has an older recommended rider age of 14. Again, you'll need to take a closer look at the individual rider's experience to determine whether or not this would be an appropriate electric quad for them. Top Speed of the Razor Dirt Quad and Dirt Quad 500 The Razor Dirt Quad top speed is 8 mph. The Razor Dirt Quad 500 top speed is 9 mph. DLX 500 has a slightly higher top speed when compared to the Dirt Quad. There's not a drastic difference between the top speed of the Dirt Quad and Dirt Quad 500. One really important factor to always consider when looking at top speed is the rider weight. A heavier rider will more than likely reduce the top speed when compared to a lighter rider. These top speeds also assume that this is a Razor four wheeler taken straight out of the box and that no modifications of any kind have been made. Continuous run time Run time for the Dirt Quad is 40 minutes with a 24 volt rechargeable battery system. Run time for the Dirt Quad 500 is 60 minutes with a 36 volt rechargeable battery system. Dirt Quad 500 gives you about 20 more minutes of continuous use. Here is where you do see a bigger difference between these Razor quads. The Dirt Quad 500 does have a more powerful 36 volt battery when compared to the 24 volt battery of the Dirt Quad. Similar to rider weight and top speed, continuous run time can also be reduced with a heavier rider. Size Razor Dirt Quad Dimensions Length: 43 inches Width: 23 inches Height: 31.5 inches Dirt Quad 500 Dimensions Length: 50.4 inches Width: 28.7 inches Height: 31.9 inches The Razor Dirt Quad 500 is 7.4 inches longer and 5.7 inches wider than the Dirt Quad. This particular difference between these Razor electric quads doesn't necessarily have too huge of an impact on overall performance. The Dirt Quad 500 caters to a taller rider and needs that extra length and width to allow for a more comfortable ride. Weight The Razor Dirt Quad weighs 89 pounds. The Razor Dirt Quad 500 weighs 113 pounds. DLX 500 weighs 24 pounds more than the Dirt Quad. As we just talked about, the Dirt Quad 500 is larger than the Dirt Quad and has a heavier frame. One thing to consider is whether or not your rider is going to be strong enough to move either of these quads around. The nice thing is that you don't have to worry about holding these Razor quads upright the same way you would with a Razor dirt bike. Moving around a heavier rider on the Dirt Quad 500 means you need more power. It also means that a lighter rider on the Dirt Quad 500 could experience a bit more torque and hit a higher top speed. Razor Dirt Quad VS Dirt Quad 500 - What's the Same? Now that we've reviewed the differences between these Razor four wheelers, let's take a close look at their similarities. Throttle Both the Dirt Quad and Dirt Quad 500 use a variable speed, twist grip throttle. This feature is especially useful to help a rider develop their throttling skills that can carry over to bigger, more powerful quads and dirt bikes down the road. It also makes it easier for the rider to control the top speed. Brakes Here is another similarity with both of these electric quads. Both use a hand operated, rear disc braking system. Handlebars In addition to the throttle and brakes, both of these Razor quads come equipped with adjustable handlebars with soft, rubber grips to cater to the size of the rider.
